The Mouse in the Class

What’s happening in social studies class?  Read the story.

Strategy: Predicting the Outcome

Look at the pictures before you read to help you predict what will happen.  Will Manolo get away with his prank?

1. Claudia:  What is this? Teresa:  It is my hamster. It’s for science class. Claudia:  What’s its name?  Teresa: Paquito.

2.  Manolo:  Carlos! I don’t have my homework. Carlos: What?  Manolo:  I have an idea.

3.  Carlos:  A mouse! Teacher, there is a mouse under the desk! Profesora:  A mouse in social studies class? Where is it? Where?

4.  Estudiante:  Now it is under the chair.  Manolo: And now it is beside the door. It’s a very impacient mouse! Teresa:  It is not a mouse! It’s my hamster, and his name is Paquito!

5.  Claudia:  There it is, in front of the table!  Teresa: Oh, my Paquito! Manolo: Well, now it is behind the computer, on top of the diskettes. Teresa:  Manolo! That is the computer mouse. It is not my Paquito.

6.  The school’s principal, Mr. Treviño, enters the class. Carlos:  Oh! Here it is! It is in my book bag.  Sr. Treviño:  Silence, please!

7.  Sr. Treviño:  Teresa, let’s talk in my office.  Teresa: Yes, sir.

8.  Profesora:  And now, Manolo, your homework? Manolo: Well, teacher….

DON’T FORGET THERE WILL BE A QUIZ ON YOUR NEW VOCABULARY AND THE VERB ESTAR THE NEXT TIME WE MEET!
