Dear 7th graders:

Now that you have survived the navigation of an all-Spanish website, you may complete Aplicácion #2 on Capítulo 2B.  You will need to convert Euros to pesetas and to dollars or vice versa and show the prices for the store items in all three currencies.   Remember: We are using Spanish pesetas, but are well aware of Spain’s recent currency change to the euro.

¡Oye! Estudiantes de español

In preparation for our Spanish Learning Contracts, students will complete two research projects over the course of three class periods:

7th Grade – Internet Link Activity 2A: Colegio Abraham Lincoln

Objective:  Students will compare the differences and similarities of public schools here in Durham, NC, with one in Bogotá, Colombia.

8th Grade – Internet Link Activity 5A:  Quince años de Jeanny

Objective: Students will explore the significance of a young lady’s coming-of-age celebration and compare it to similar traditions in the United States.

8th Grade – Internet Link Activity 5B: Josué y familia

Objective: Students will learn that although soccer is the most popular sport in the Spanish-speaking world, in the countries of the Caribbean there is another sport that rivals soccer in popularity. Sammy Sosa and Jose Valentin are from the Caribbean and play this sport–¡béisbol!
